Preston's Tip of the Day for Sunday 05 February - WireJewelryBootcamp.com Today's Tip comes from DeniseWhen working with copper or brass wire, I find that as I am finishing my wire wrapping and putting the final tweaks on tightening and bails, I am consistently squishing, denting or burring the wire. Am I putting too much pressure on the wire? Is there a way to avoid this? Does it ruin the...

Preston's Tip of the Day for Saturday 04 February -... Today's Tip comes from MillieOne of the best ways to win a potential customer's heart (and check) is: when the potentential approaches your display, quickly choose a bracelet, necklace or ring that you can see will "show off" best with what they are wearing; say something such as, "Oh, look how beautifully this goes with...

Preston's Tip of the Day for Friday 03 February - WireJewelryBootcamp.com Today's Tip comes from FrancesPreston, I am able to make wire-sculpted jewelry thanks to you and your DVDs! People are amazed that I can make jewelry using just wire and pliers. My question is which gauge secret weapon pliers would be the best size to get as I cannot afford all of them? And is it possible to make the...

Preston's Tip of the Day for Thursday 02 February -... Today's Tip comes from JoyceTIP BY JOYCE ORMOND - I also sell my jewelry in a local beauty salon and hope my experience may encourage or help someone else. Welcome

Preston Reuther’s Wire Jewelry Blog

A letter from Preston:

My blog is really an extension of  www.wirejewelrybootcamp.com which  comes from 20 years in the wire jewelry trade and is designed to be a place where I can come up with new designs of jewelry tools and really anything in the wire jewelry trade. Other then designing wire jewelry my life is pretty mundane.

But we do have a full fleet of on line jewelry businesses to keep us pretty busy during the cold St. Joe Missouri winters. Gee sometime I wish I was back in my old home town of New Orleans but the city I knew was gone way before Katrina hit. But St. Joe is pretty cool with the Mississippi, the big old homes and many of the people are hippies just grown up now. So I feel right at home.

Our main business is the Wire Jewelry Bootcamp which is a membership site for wire artists world wide. It really does away with expensive DVDs and turns it all into one big movie theater of wire jewelry streaming video. Its like your evening news but with wire jewelry as the focus and not murder. Well I guess you could murder some wire but that’s about the most damage you could do. Here are just a few of my sites. I have over 60 websites but i wont bore you with the ones i never see. Here are the active ones:

www.wirejewelrybootcamp.com

www.masterwiresculptor.com

www.cameojewelry.com

www.jewelrysupplycloseouts.com

www.antiquecameos.com

If you see one of my wire jewelry DVDs I no longer have a black mustache and black hair and I have no idea where it went to. The big plus is i can now go to a gem show and no one knows me. But I’m feeling pretty comfortable since most of the new wire artists are well over 50 and many way over 60 so I got lots of friends.

I’m going to put some of my new and old designs here. Some I have patterns for some i have videos for and other I don’t have a clue on how I did them and might not be able to do them again. I don’t make sketches or designs and all that stuff that the higher educated in the jewelry field do. I just get a feeling in my gut and it’s just gotta come out and it usually does about 11 pm. Here is a setting I have been working on. Needs a few changes but I think it has lot’s of possibilities. I collect old cameos so you dont need a $1000 cameo you could use a $2 cameo.

I make jewelry almost every night or some new design or even work on a new tool line. No time for partying here but hey a  stiff drink would probably kill me at my age! So making jewelry is what I do if i get paid for it or not its what I do.

I have a TIP A DAY somewhere on this contraption so if you can find it sign up I do give out some info you might be able to use from time to time and it’s free.
