Preston’s Tip of the Day for Wednesday 22 February – WireJewelryBootcamp.com

Today's Tip comes from Carolyn

My argentium silver 18ga wire is breaking pretty easily when wrapping a bracelet I am working on. I have done several others in the gold filled 18ga wire with no problem. Is this usual?

I just bought a rotary tumbler, haven't had a chance to use it yet but was wondering what is an average time for a piece to harden or clean?

Preston’s Tip of the Day for Sunday 19 February – WireJewelryBootcamp.com

Today's Tip comes from charla

TIP BY Charla Cytacki - i have a new technique ive dicovered.I sometimes use a antique brass filigree component behind a cabachon to make it a little more fancy.I was playing with embossing powder and found if i dab the component onto the embossing pad and then sprinkle the embossing powder over it and then hit it lightly with the heat gun i get a piece that looks like it has been enamalled.the colors are beautiful and adds that special touch to your project.beautiful and fun.the pearl embossing powder is awsome on a brass piece behind a cameo cab.

Preston’s Tip of the Day for Saturday 18 February – WireJewelryBootcamp.com

Today's Tip comes from Susan

When my landlord added more cupboard & counter space to the home I rent, I no longer had space in the kitchen for my baking cart. So, I rolled it into the dining room (where I work) and turned into wire, bead, and tool storage. The towel bar is perfect for organizing & hanging all my pliers, cutters, crimpers, etc. The drawer holds hammers, mallets, anvil and bench blocks and the cupboard underneath is great for storage of bead trays, wire, etc. When company comes, I can just pop everything away, put a plant on top and it becomes part of the furniture. Baking carts at a discount store like Target, WalMart run from $50 to just over $100, but I think you could turn just about any small cabinet or drawer set into a rolling wire work cart just by adding wheels and a dowel rod for hanging pliers, etc. - Far less expensive than the 'furniture' sold specifically for beading & jewelry making storage (avg. price $300 to over $500.00).

Preston’s Tip of the Day for Friday 17 February – WireJewelryBootcamp.com

Today's Tip comes from Rhea

Due to my jump ring insecurity (no matter all of the ways I've learned to re-close them)I never trust them to stay tightly closed. I have heard of people trying, tho not so successfully,to use glue to re-enforce the area, but Preston do you think a miniscule, carefully placed, drop of clear resin would permanently seal the split? Thanks,Rhea Riddle
