Preston’s Tip of the Day for Sunday 06 May – WireJewelryBootcamp.com

Today's Tip comes from Virginia

TIP BY VIRGINIA SPURGEON - Preston, I have increased my sales by 8%. do this and am able to keep a modest inventory by taking my "get going" pack with me pretty much everywhere I go. I make and sell Ear Cuffs. I made a small "get going" pouch using a small carry bag(such as a canvas lunch box). In it I have pre=prepared several lengths of wire and put them in a small container. I have some of the stacking small containers with beads, bead caps and other findings I use, and some small gauge wire for wrapping and several tools that help with my particular items. I spend a lot of time waiting at doctors and the likes so I pull out the bag and get busy making more. I have sold many a piece in the waiting rooms and metting halls in my area and the word gets out that I am around. I also keep a small container with several different types of finished items for the people to see and I also wear my own product. It is a way to fill in dead time and make live cash.

Preston’s Tip of the Day for Saturday 05 May – WireJewelryBootcamp.com

Today's Tip comes from Jennifer

TIP BY JENNIFER CLARDY - Hello. I am new to jewerly design, I just started in Jan all because a friend liked my ideas, so I decided to give it a try, why not! Well I have almost 100 fans on my FaceBook page and am on my way to a website. I have also never taken a class, do not get my ideas off of pintrest and I buy beads and items that are hard to find, this makes each piece unique and difficult to duplicate, which in turn makes my customers happy, because they know the piece they are buying is truly a one of a kind! I also do drawings for free jewelry on Facebook, and offer new customers a significant discount in the hopes that they will be repeat customers and refer more business to me, I also put my Jewelry for sale in different places, like a hair salon, a shoe/boot shop...I also make boot bling! So far this strategy has proven to work well. Over Valentines I sold out of everything I made!! and that was the first time I had ever made anything!

Preston’s Tip of the Day for Thursday 03 May – WireJewelryBootcamp.com

Today's Tip comes from Mindy

TIP BY MINDY BILLINGS - Hello PR and loved ones Earlier this week Pam asked a question regarding the difficulty of making stones set in snap sets. I used to have this same problem and have found various ways similar to the one you suggested and I had tried them all but it was soooo frustrating. I don't know how any one else feels about it, but I found the best answer for me was a tool specifically designed for setting gems in snap sets. They are called "stone setting pliers" and I paid $6 for them. You put the snap set on the pliers place the stone on top of the set and squeeze the pliers lightly and they "snap" right in. For me they work perfectly every time.

Preston’s Tip of the Day for Wednesday 02 May – WireJewelryBootcamp.com

Today's Tip comes from kathy

TIP Y KATHY KURKE - I am entering your contest to win 6 months of free wire jewelry bootcamp: My hint is for displaying earrings at shows: I make inexpensive and space-efficient earring stands out of black mesh trashcans (which can be purchased at Walmart or an office store) turned upside down on wooden turntables. I screw three screws into the turntable to temporarily secure the rim of the trashcan to the turntable. Because the stand is made of mesh you can see through it and see the earrings on the other side of the stand which makes the display look a bit cluttered. To remedy this, I roll up a piece of black poster board (or some other large piece of black paper) into a loose cone shape and insert it inside of the trashcan. Be sure to make the diameter of the cone of paper smaller than the trashcan display so it doesn't interfere with easy insertion and removal of earrings from your display.

Is it okay to learn how to make jewelry by copying others' work but using different beads and fixings?

Preston’s Tip of the Day for Monday 30 April – WireJewelryBootcamp.com

Today's Tip comes from Janepher

TIP BY JANEPHER MCBRIDE -In regards to the table size, 6 foot or 4 foot. Table size depends on the amount of product you are selling. Most tables at craft shows are 8 ft. I couldn't do without 16 feet of space. Set up an area on the floor the same as you should set up at the show. Take the measurements and divide by four. That should give you the number of tables you would need to purchase.
